Public Art Projects, Residencies & Commissions


2020 Artist in Residence, Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, Gloucestershire

Working in partnership with Westonbirt and Art Shape, a local disability arts charity, to devise and deliver 15 weekly workshops, culminating in the creation of ‘Lungs of the Earth’ outdoor installation.


2020 Lead Artist, Thamesmead Light Up Festival, London

Commissioned by Bow Arts Trust and Peabody to create ‘Diamonds’ an illuminating outdoor sculpture made through workshops with local school groups, inspired by the Tump 53 Nature Reserve.


2019 Lead Artist, Wool & Water Festival, Stroud, Gloucestershire

Commissioned by Creative Sustainability CIC to create a series of printed textile banners for canal bridges between Stroud and Stonehouse to reflect the textile heritage of the area. The banners were made with local community groups to show how canals have been used historically and today.


2019 Artist Educator, Royal Academy of Arts, RA 250 Heritage project, London

A series of drawing and sculpture workshops in response to the permanent collection of historical Academicians diploma works in contrast with contemporary sculpture exhibition from RA Phyllida Barlow.


2017-2018 Artist in Residence, Hotham Primary School, London

Whole school participation to grow drawing, painting and sculpture skills. Specific projects included large human rights posters, whole body drawings, eco-activism murals, super-size food sculptures and video. By the end of the residency both children and staff reported increased confidence in art and design.


2017 Lead Artist, Canal & River Trust at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London 

Commissioned for the reopening of Carpenters Road Lock, the Rangoli Arts Banners installation consisted of 55 metres of colourful fabric banners, which were printed and stitched by over 450 community participants. Lead Artist created lino-cut designs relating to the industrial heritage of the site.


2015-2016 Lead Artist, Ceramic Numeracy installations, Alice Model Nursery & Marner School, London

Working with Early Years and reception children to explore the basics of working with clay, and create a set of numerals for permanent display at Alice Model and an outdoor installation of ceramic insects at Marner. Leading staff training for teachers and assistants to develop use of clay in classrooms.


2014 Lead Artist, Twickenham Carnival, London

Funded by London Borough of Richmond to create 4 carnival floats and 25 community workshops relating to the theme of Georgian England. Floats were based on the Georgian architecture at Orleans House Gallery, Georgian pleasure gardens, Georgian leisure pursuits, home decor and imports of tea, china and exotic fruits! Carnival figureheads were life-size sculptures of the House of Hanover: King George IV and Queen Caroline.


2013 Michael and Mary, St Justus Church, Rochester, Kent

Permanent acquisition to create a quiet reflection and prayer area in St Justus Church, using wax relief sculptures that were created for the Hostry Festival at Norwich Cathedral in 2011


2012 Anahata Torus, Donaldson Courtyard, Kimbolton

Commissioned to create an installation reflecting the overlaps between science and art, and engage users of the science labs surrounding Donaldson Courtyard. The resulting installation pursued the enquiry, How do you measure the energy of the heart? using research from Heart Math Institute USA.


2011 Independent Artist, Hackney WickED Festival, London

‘Two-into-one’ a site specific installation creating a mirror of blue sky in a dense urban environment.


2010 Artist in Residence, Kimbolton School, Cambridgeshire / Huntingdonshire

Creating ‘Double Bend’ a semi-permanent outdoor installation spanning 10 metres in diameter in response to Giant Wellingtonia trees imported from the USA in the 1800’s. This installation mimicked the root patterns of the huge tree and absorbed rain water to shift its form with changing weather conditions.


2009 Associate Artist, Queensboro Bridge Centennial Sculpture project, New York City, USA

A partnership between Joan Mitchell Foundation and Recycle-a-bicycle, funded by the New York Department of Transport, to create an award-winning urban sculpture garden using bike parts.


2008 Artist in Residence, Vermont Studio Centre, USA

Developing new work using beeswax, soy wax and paraffin wax over wooden and plastic forms.


2008 Independent installation: Sugar Accumulation, Central Park, New York, USA

Guerrilla installation to coincide with ‘Happy Endings’ summer exhibition at Michael Steinberg Gallery.


2008 Take Issue, Philadelphia Sculptors outdoor exhibition, Washington DC, USA

Amid the presidential election campaigns leading up to Obama’s inauguration ‘We didn’t start the fire’ was installed in Washington Square plaza to raise awareness about environmental clean up agendas. 


2007 Water Bottle Falls, Fairmount Waterworks Interpretive Centre, Philadelphia, USA

Created for World Water Day to raise awareness about watershed pollution in the Philadelphia region. The installation, made entirely out of reclaimed plastic drinks bottles, measured 5 metres, floor to ceiling.


2006 Lead Artist, Edible Ponds, Hackney Marshes, London

Design and landscaping of wetland area at Hackney Marshes Tree Nursery. Commissioned by Hackney Marshes User Group as an educational resource with sculptural irrigation system & edible aquatic plants


2004 Sealed Flow, The Royal Festival Hall, London

Commissioned by the South Bank Centre during extensive renovations to aesthetically enhance foyer areas and creatively interpret the history of the site and new building plans. ‘Sealed Flow’ was a walk-through structure with flowing water encased in polycarbonate sheeting with steel framework and ramps.
