Focus

Deb Hoy creates public art, gallery exhibitions and temporary installations that explore human relationships to the natural world and built environment.

Each project is customised to it’s location and audience.

As lead artist, Deb Hoy often works in partnership with multiple stake-holders to design and deliver innovative and educational artworks that support social engagement, community building and place-making strategies.

Experience

With 20 years of sculptural practice, Deb is confident at designing and delivering high-quality creative responses to a wide range of public art and engagement briefs.

After studying at Central Saint Martins and Chelsea school of Art in London, Deb received the prestigious Thouron Award scholarship to undertake a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. Following several successful years in the USA, Deb returned to the UK to build her practice as a socially engaged artist and educator.

Since then, Deb has created bespoke commissions for a wide range of clients and delivered arts workshops for more than 60 schools, working with all ages from Early Years to degree-level.

Approach

Deb Hoy’s approach is rooted in creative exploration and experimentation.

Her sculptural installations often involve an element of research - scientific, historical or social - and reflect Debs’ enthusiasm for natural resources and the way materials are made and used.

Underpinning all of her work, there is a firm belief in the transformative power of art to to catalyse change both on a personal and societal level.

I am fuelled by the constant potential for change….

To me, the creative process is like particles of light, infiltrating consciousness and subtly inducing new understanding - different ways of seeing the world”.
